Associate of Arts in Business

To meet the needs of working adults, Olivet Nazarene University offers an Associate of Arts degree in Business (AAB). This program provides business foundations for learners who are in the early stages of the college experience.

As a student in the AAB program at Olivet, you will study a variety of general education subjects while forming a solid foundation of business education by exploring introductory business concepts and issues. The AAB will prepare you for Olivet's Bachelor of Business Administration program.

The curriculum is designed to expose you to a variety of introductory courses. The well-rounded coursework focuses on communication, technology, ethics, history, and other liberal arts classes. The heaviest concentration of coursework is devoted to business topics, such as leadership, legal environments, accounting, finance, and economics.

Bachelor of Business Administration

The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) is a degree-completion program for working adults who seek to build upon their educational foundations and work experience to enhance their personal, professional, or higher education objectives. The program is designed for busy adults who possess work experience in general business/industry-related fields and an associate degree or 60 hours of transferable credit.

As a BBA student you will be exposed to the qualitative and quantitative aspects of business administration, including human resources, finance, economics, and marketing. The program focuses on the integration of your experience to the academic coursework with the intention that the knowledge and skills you develop will be directly applicable to the work environment. The objectives of the program are to enhance your ability to:

  • Apply critical thinking skills and identify solutions to problems. Apply theoretical concepts to real-life business situations.
  • Clarify and develop an individual philosophy of ethics and apply it to managerial situations.
  • Access and utilize current technology in order to achieve business objectives.
  • Expand your qualitative and quantitative abilities in preparation for cross-functional roles within an organization.

Master of Arts in Philosophy of Political Theory

Olivet Nazarene University's Master of Arts degrees in Philosophy of History and Political Theory are specifically designed to enhance understanding of the engines of change for professionals involved in a variety of careers, including education, government, religion, faith-based humanitarian work, and community development. Unlike traditional graduate programs in these majors, our degree program does not focus on a specific period of history or intellectual movement; instead you will explore a single theme across the succession of civilizations that make up our own story.

The program features two research tracks: Philosophy of History and Political Theory. Students take the same courses, but the structure and content of the research projects connected with each course, as well as the thesis or thesis project, focus on one of the two tracks.

Master of Business Administration

Olivet's Master of Business Administration (MBA) program exists to enhance the professional skills of business managers and executives. Building on your education and work experience, the MBA program is designed to hone the knowledge and skills necessary for the highly competitive business environment. The program is intended to develop your ability to comprehend internal and external social, legal, political, and economic forces as they affect decision-making processes within organizations.

The curriculum offers a blend of theory and practice and builds on a core of traditional business administration courses relating to leadership, communication, accountability, and finance. Topics designed to aid management-level decision-making include understanding values and ethics, corporate accountability, awareness of international concerns, and formation of business strategy. Throughout the program, your experiences are drawn on to enhance coursework with practical application.

Master of Business Administration (Executive Track)

The Olivet Executive MBA is designed for business professionals who want to advance their education, but can't put life on hold. Designed to be relevant, current and challenging, this program equips students to meet the challenges of today's business world.

The Olivet Executive MBA intentionally focuses on the ethical elements of leadership, alongside traditional business studies. We simply couldn't see creating an executive level program without including a rigorous discussion of ethics. This program is designed to build your knowledge and skills, balance personal and professional growth, and provide you with dynamic leadership training.

Master of Organizational Leadership

The Master of Organizational Leadership (MOL) program is designed to enhance professional leadership skills of business owners, managers, and supervisors throughout the spectrum of business, nonprofit and government. The MOL focuses on providing you with a variety of human relations, such as conceptual and technical skills to prepare you to successfully fulfill the planning, communicating, problem-solving and decision-making activities of your professional position.

Courses in the MOL will require learners to apply theories and/or models to specific problems and issues or change initiatives within their organizations. Emphasis is placed on the development and continuous improvement of communication skills through presentations, papers, and journalportfolios in which you assess the growth and development of your leadership skills. Collaborative learning team projects involve the study of specific leadership issues and their possible solutions and change initiatives.
